The Institute of Marine Research (IIM-CSIC) in Vigo will host a seminar on Thursday, October 29, featuring Professor Alberto C. Naveira Garabato, a Fellow of the Royal Society, who will discuss the role of the Antarctic Ocean in regulating global climate.

Professor Alberto C. Naveira Garabato, Regius Professor of Ocean Sciences at the University of Southampton (United Kingdom) and recently elected a Fellow of the Royal Society, will deliver the talk titled “Rewriting the Tale of Deep-Ocean Upwelling”.
The researcher, born in A Coruña, is an internationally recognised expert in the study of deep-ocean circulation and the processes connecting oceans to the climate system. His scientific career has been acknowledged with numerous distinctions.
The seminar will take place at 11:00 a.m. in the IIM-CSIC Assembly Hall and can also be followed online via a connection provided by the center.
The event is open to all IIM-CSIC staff and offers an opportunity to learn first-hand about the research of a leader in physical oceanography. Afterwards, there will be an informal gathering over a traditional roscón cake.
