The Faculty of Public Management and Administration at the University of Vigo seeks to strengthen ties with the Galician Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (Fegamp) to enhance training and research focused on local administrations. Dean Fernando Martínez and Vice-Dean Óscar Briones held a meeting with Fegamp President Alberto Varela and Secretary General Patricia Vilán, where potential collaboration avenues were explored.
This meeting, described by the dean as a “first contact,” primarily aimed to request Fegamp's collaboration in disseminating the Public Management and Administration degree among local administrations. Martínez Arribas highlighted that the degree is the only one in Galician universities that includes a mandatory subject on public management in local governments, and pointed out the center's potential to become a benchmark in training for local management personnel. The possibility of students undertaking internships at Fegamp was also discussed.
Furthermore, the establishment of work and collaboration lines in research was addressed. The faculty, along with the Observatory of Governance G3 research group, conducts studies on human resources, public management, local sustainability, and digitalization in local entities, areas where collaboration with administrations is sought.
