The Xermade Council congratulates the Cabreiros Neighbors Association for winning the 2026 Critics' Award of Galicia in the Cultural and Scientific Initiatives category. This recognition highlights the commitment, participation, and shared work among the residents, the AVV Cabreiros, the Xermade Council, and the University of Santiago de Compostela to recover and preserve collective memory, strengthen local identity, and keep the territory's culture alive.
This project demonstrates that rural areas have a present, a future, and an enormous capacity to build community through culture, cooperation, and shared learning.
The award belongs to Cabreiros, but the joy and pride are for all of Xermade. Long live rural culture!
