The rector of the USC, Rosa M. Crujeiras, and the mayoress of A Coruña, Inés Rey, signed a collaboration agreement this Monday, October 26, at the Municipal Palace of María Pita. The aim is to promote new lines of research and analysis that contribute to strategic planning and the sustainable urban development of the city.
The agreement includes a municipal contribution of 33,000 euros and will allow for in-depth study in three key areas for A Coruña's future: metropolitan coordination and governance, adaptation to climate change and the renaturalization of urban spaces, and monitoring the evolution of the housing market.
Through this collaboration, the USC will carry out research work aimed at facilitating the design of public policies and municipal strategies. Planned actions include the analysis of metropolitan-scale coordination mechanisms, the identification of opportunities to expand green infrastructure, and the development of studies on the residential market to inform housing policies.
The work will involve researchers from the USC's Department of Geography, linked to the research group Análise Territorial (ANTE) and the Instituto de Estudos e Desenvolvemento de Galicia (IDEGA). The collaboration includes the preparation of technical reports, indicators, and territorial analysis tools that will be available to the Council to support municipal planning.
