The University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) and the Aresa Group have signed a new collaboration agreement for the XXVII Aresa Rural Development Award, continuing an initiative that began in 2000 and aims to recognize projects contributing to the progress of rural Galicia.

The event, held in the press room of Pazo de Montenegro on the Lugo Campus, was attended by the rector Rosa M. Crujeiras and Aresa's president, Carlota López Pardo. The award recognizes the work of companies, associations, entities, and research groups committed to the development of rural Galicia.
The Aresa Award aims to recognize projects that boost economic activity, create employment, and improve the quality of life in rural areas. Aspects such as economic viability, added value generation, recovery of agricultural and livestock activities, utilization of traditional Galician products, and the incorporation of innovations will be evaluated.
“

"From the University of Santiago de Compostela, we understand that research and innovation must be connected with the challenges and needs of our territory. And the rural environment is undoubtedly an area where we have much to contribute, both from research and from knowledge transfer and collaboration with the productive fabric."

Rosa M. Crujeiras · Rector of USC
The rector, accompanied by the Vice-Rector for Coordination of the Lugo Campus, Roberto Bande, highlighted that the award "precisely has that value: to give visibility to innovative projects, business initiatives, and R&D+i work that contribute to modernizing the agricultural, livestock, and agri-food sectors, and that demonstrate that in rural areas there is also the capacity to undertake, innovate, and create the future".
With the signing of this agreement, the application period for candidacies opens, which can be submitted from this Tuesday, the 4th, until December 18th. The complete rules of the competition are available at aresa-agricola.com.
Throughout its twenty-six previous editions, the Aresa Award has recognized various initiatives linked to the primary sector, research, and agri-food transformation.
