Galician music is represented at Womex 2026, the global market for folk and roots music held in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, with the support of the Xunta de Galicia for the participation of A Pedreira and Fillas de Cassandra.

The Xunta de Galicia is promoting the international projection of Galician music by supporting the presence of two acts, A Pedreira and Fillas de Cassandra, at Womex 2026, the most important global gathering for folk and roots music taking place until this Sunday in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The director of the Galician Agency for Cultural Industries, Jacobo Sutil, was present at the event.
The representative of the Consellería de Cultura, Lingua e Xuventude attended the concert by A Pedreira, who was selected by an independent international jury to be part of the Official Showcases, Womex's official selection of concerts. This initiative offers Galician artists and companies a space to showcase their work to programmers, festivals, booking agencies, and other professionals from various countries.
The Galician representation on stage will be completed on Saturday the 24th with the performance of Fillas de Cassandra, scheduled for 9:30 PM —Canary time— on the Atlantic Connections stage, located at the Auditorio Alfredo Kraus. The duo, formed by María SOA and Sara Faro, will bring their blend of Galician musical tradition, electronic, and pop to the event.
Alongside artistic participation, the event includes the presence of Galician companies and professionals who are using the fair to present their projects, hold work meetings, and establish contacts with agents in the international circuit. Womex maintains a close relationship with Galicia, which has hosted three editions of this market: in Santiago de Compostela in 2014 and 2016, and in A Coruña in 2023.
