The University Institute for Galician Studies and Development (IDEGA) of the USC and the Economic and Social Council of Galicia are announcing the thirteenth edition of the 'Valentín Paz Andrade' Award for Research in Social Sciences and Economics of Galicia, aimed at recognizing research that contributes to understanding Galicia's socioeconomic reality.

The annual award seeks to recognize studies that enhance the understanding of Galicia's socioeconomic reality and promote the design of policies that benefit citizen welfare. The call for entries establishes two categories: the first for research papers published in scientific journals or recognized publishing houses between October 15, 2025, and October 14, 2026, with a prize of 2,000 euros; and the second for doctoral theses presented at any university during the same period, with a prize of 1,000 euros.
Submissions can be in Galician, Spanish, English, or Portuguese. The deadline for applications is open and will close on November 6, 2026. Proposals must be sent to the IDEGA secretariat, located in Santiago de Compostela, or by postal mail.
