The Minister of Social Policy and Equality, Ángeles Vázquez, held a first meeting this afternoon with the board of the Galician Association of the Dependency Sector (Agasede) in Santiago de Compostela. The meeting analyzed the future prospects of the dependency sector.
Vázquez highlighted that care for dependent persons is one of the Galician government's main challenges, reflected in the annual budgets. She recalled that for the next year, the Xunta is allocating 972 million euros to this area, representing an investment of 127 million euros more than in the current fiscal year.
The meeting also addressed the situation of care resources for dependent persons, available services, and benefits such as the Bono Coidado no Fogar, which already reaches more than 43,000 people. The minister thanked them for their willingness to dialogue and conveyed the Galician government's commitment to continue working with the associative fabric to further improve the lives of the elderly.
