The University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) stands out in the new cohort of the Industrial Doctorates program, now in its sixth edition. A total of 15 new researchers are joining the initiative, with nine from USC, five from the University of Vigo (UVigo), and one from the University of A Coruña (UDC). Since its inception, the program has supported 91 researchers and involved 59 companies and 6 technological centers in Galicia.
The Minister of Education, Science, Universities, and Vocational Training, Román Rodríguez, emphasized the strategic importance of this initiative in connecting academia with the productive sector, providing solutions to real-world problems and boosting Galicia's competitiveness. He highlighted the program as a key tool for attracting talent, creating jobs, and promoting knowledge transfer.
Rodríguez also noted that 60% of doctoral candidates completing their theses in companies maintain their employment after finishing, a figure that rises to 83% for those in technological centers. The minister met with the 15 researchers, their supervisors, and representatives from the collaborating entities, who will undertake their projects until 2029. Twelve theses will be carried out in companies and three in technological centers, covering fields such as biology, pharmacy, medicine, engineering, physics, digitalization, and chemistry.
