The President of the Xunta, Alfonso Rueda, announced this new initiative after the Xunta Council's analysis of the Strategic Initiative for Security, Defense, and Aerospace (IESDA). This strategy aims to mobilize approximately €900 million in public-private investment by 2030 and is now entering a new phase focused on SMEs.
The new aid line, with a budget of €6 million, is specifically aimed at SMEs and seeks to facilitate their integration into the dual industry value chain, with a call for applications featuring more agile requirements adapted to their size. The objective is for Galicia to leverage its potential to manufacture strategic and in-demand products.
The aid programs launched so far within the IESDA already total €47.8 million and confirm the interest of Galician companies in supplying technology, equipment, or participating in R&D+i projects. The first call for the Dual Industry program subsidized seven projects mobilizing over €19 million, where SMEs contributed 46% of the investment and accounted for 63.6% of the requested aid.
Furthermore, the association agreements program, endowed with €40 million, attracted 32 companies and groups in its first phase. Currently, the selection of qualified projects is being processed, with the expectation of declaring the finalist projects in the summer of 2027 and their award in the third quarter of that year. The main actions of the IESDA will receive €19.45 million in 2027.
