The Santiago City Council, the Consortium of Santiago, and the Construction Labour Foundation have signed an agreement to develop the "RenÓbrate" training and employment program, which will train 20 unemployed individuals in stonemasonry.

The agreement, signed by the Mayoress of Santiago and President of the Consortium of Santiago, Goretti Sanmartín Rei; the Manager of the Consortium of Santiago, José Antonio Domínguez Varela; and the Manager of the Territorial Council of Galicia of the Construction Labour Foundation, Fernando García Novo, aims at the labor insertion of unemployed individuals over 18 years of age.
The program, lasting nine months, will hire the 20 students in stonemasonry trades, linked to the restoration and rehabilitation of heritage. The Construction Labour Foundation will contribute 71,000 euros for materials and machinery, in addition to providing technical knowledge and experience. The Santiago City Council will facilitate municipal spaces and facilities.
The project includes four practical interventions in different parts of the municipality: the washhouse and masonry wall of Pontepedriña de Arriba, the fountain and masonry walls of Selva Negra, the recovery of the footbridge over the Sarela River, and the washhouse of Cornes, where training in roof rehabilitation will also be provided.
These interventions will allow students to acquire skills in the stonemasonry trade through maintenance, recovery, and rehabilitation work on traditional elements and built heritage.
