The 20 student-workers from the "Poio verde y sostenible" employment workshop are now working on the restoration of the historic gardens of Pazo Besada, improving paths, accessibility, and unique elements.

A total of 20 student-workers from the dual employment workshop “Poio verde y sostenible” are now working on the gardens of the Pazo Besada, a historic site in Poio. The project aims to improve its conservation, condition the access points, and restore elements for the enjoyment of the local community.
The mayor of Poio, Ángel Moldes, accompanied by councilors Marcial García and Manuel Domínguez, inspected the progress of the work. The program, which began in July, trains participants in the specialty of mountain conservation and improvement.
Ángel Moldes highlighted that the intervention will help recover an emblematic space, respecting its historical and environmental value, while adapting it for community use. He emphasized the importance of preserving the identity of the gardens, improving accessibility and safety, and establishing it as a benchmark green area.
The initiative, which has received authorizations from the Heritage department, includes the restoration of paths with stabilized granite aggregate, improvement of slopes, granite paving at entrances, conservation pruning of vegetation, especially camellias, and the introduction of species adapted to the shade. The interior path, stairs, the area around the fountain, and the pond will also be restored, along with improvements to drainage, lighting, and urban furniture.
The project is funded with 501,552 euros from the Consellería de Emprego, Comercio e Emigración of the Xunta de Galicia to cover the costs of the training and employment program.
