The Minister of Education, Román Rodríguez, presented today in Pontevedra to the management teams of the province's educational centers the new Framework for Educational Advancement, which includes the launch of a Galician School for Management Function and other specific measures to improve the system's quality.

The Minister of Education, Science, Universities, and Vocational Training, Román Rodríguez, highlighted today that the new Framework for Educational Advancement includes the launch of a Galician School for Management Function. This initiative is part of a roadmap by the Xunta de Galicia to advance the quality of the educational system from an integral perspective, with specific actions for students, teachers, and schools.
Rodríguez met this morning with the management teams of educational centers in the province of Pontevedra to present this initiative, accompanied by the technical general secretary, Manuel Vila; and the director general of Centers and Human Resources, Jesús Álvarez. The Framework will be developed through five strategic lines of action focused on reinforcing basic competencies, continuous improvement, equal opportunities, new technological and digitalization challenges, and the role of teachers.
Regarding the reinforcement of management roles, the creation of this new School is planned, along with mentoring and specialized training for new managers. Support for practicing teachers and novice educators by experienced teachers will also be strengthened, with novice teachers having a specific support pathway during their initial years of practice.
The minister placed special emphasis on the role of teachers as “a fundamental actor in this path of improvement” and announced that the Office for Teacher Support, a newly created service offering comprehensive assistance, advice, guidance, support, and legal assistance when necessary to teaching professionals, is about to become operational.
In terms of reinforcing basic competencies, the establishment of working groups for Avanza Matemáticas (Mathematics Advancement) and Avanza Lectura (Reading Advancement) for Primary Education was highlighted, which will be implemented this school year. Concurrently, work is underway to update Primary Education curricula to ensure reading comprehension has a transversal character across all subjects. Curricular guidelines will also be established to define the minimum learning outcomes for students in Galician Language and Literature, Castilian Language and Literature, and Mathematics. In Secondary Education, a new compulsory subject, Reading and Comprehension, will be introduced in the 1st and 2nd years of ESO next year.
Furthermore, the Framework includes the new extracurricular educational reinforcement Program for 6th grade of Primary Education, aimed at students with difficulties in reading and mathematics. Regarding coexistence, new measures were presented to strengthen the climate of respect in classrooms, including intensified sanctions for very serious offenses such as harassment and cyberbullying, and for the first time in Spain, aggressions against teachers are being classified with corresponding administrative sanctions.
