The Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Planning, María M. Allegue, along with the territorial delegate of the Xunta in Ourense, Manuel Pardo, visited today the rehabilitation works of two buildings in the city's historic center. These actions will result in six public promotion homes under the Rexurbe program.
Allegue recalled that through this program, the Xunta acquires buildings in historic centers to rehabilitate them with the aim of increasing the supply of accessible housing and revitalizing Galicia's historic centers, as well as settling the population. The minister visited the work on a building in Manuel Sueiro square, which will provide 5 public homes, and subsequently those being carried out in another building on Pelaio street, to create one new public home.
The joint investment in both buildings amounts to €1.9M and is co-financed by European funds. The completion of the works is expected by 2027. The homes will be offered for accessible rent to individuals registered in the Single Registry of Demanders of Galicia, with 40% reserved for those under 36 years of age.
Furthermore, Allegue also visited the works that the Xunta is carrying out in the Ourense neighborhood of Reza to create a pedestrian path along the regional road OU-402. This intervention, with an investment of nearly €1.5M, will create over 2km of pedestrian route to ensure safe travel and will be completed next year.
