Nearly a thousand students from Tui, spanning Primary, Secondary, Baccalaureate, and Vocational Training, are participating from today, October 26th, and throughout November in workshops organized by the Tui City Council to promote equality, co-responsibility, and egalitarian masculinity models.

The Tui City Council, through its Equality Department, has launched a new program of educational workshops aimed at promoting equality between women and men, fostering co-responsibility, and encouraging egalitarian masculinity models. This initiative is part of the Corresponsables Plan, promoted by the Ministry of Equality of the Spanish Government and co-financed by the Xunta de Galicia. Approximately 990 students from various educational levels are expected to participate.
The activities, which began on Monday, October 26th, and will continue through November, are adapted to different age groups. Through participatory methodologies, students will reflect on gender roles and stereotypes, healthy and respectful affective relationships, and contribute to the prevention of inequalities and gender-based violence.
In Primary Education, younger students (grades 1-4) will participate in the 'Co-responsibility Gymkhana,' a fun activity focused on domestic tasks and care. Older students (grades 5-6) will engage in the workshop 'Egalitarian Relationships, Good Treatment, and Co-responsible Masculinities,' addressing gender stereotypes, emotional expression, respect for personal boundaries, and building relationships based on equality, empathy, and good treatment.
At the IES San Paio and IES Indalecio Pérez Tizón institutes, Philosophy professor Pepe Cabido will lead sessions for young people to reflect on traditional masculinity models, stereotypes, and the need for egalitarian relationships free from discrimination and violence.
The Councilor for Equality, Ana Núñez, highlighted the importance of "educating in equality from childhood to build a more just society," emphasizing that "domestic tasks and care are the responsibility of everyone." She also stated that these workshops "aim to provide our youth with tools to identify and question gender stereotypes" and that "education is one of the most important tools we have to prevent inequalities and gender-based violence."
Through this program, the Tui City Council reinforces its commitment to education and awareness as fundamental tools for advancing towards a more egalitarian society, promoting values such as cooperation, respect, mutual care, and shared responsibility from the classroom.
