The Local Government Board of Lugo approved road infrastructure improvement projects totaling €376,328.45, including the urbanization of Virxe da Soidade street and the refurbishment of rural paths.

The Local Government Board of Lugo greenlit projects and the start of contracting for road infrastructure improvements, with a combined base tender budget of €376,328.45. Among the actions, the partial urbanization of Virxe da Soidade street stands out, with a budget of €184,591.05, pending for years, which will improve accessibility and pedestrian safety around the As Gándaras school. The project includes the construction of a new continuous and accessible sidewalk, pedestrian connection between Calzada das Gándaras and Rúa do Peto, a specific platform for the urban bus stop with a new shelter, and the reorganization of stops and parking areas.
Projects for the improvement of rural paths included in the Provincial Council's Plan for Cooperation with Municipalities 2026 were also approved, totaling €191,737.40. One of them, with a budget of €124,318.43, will condition the path connecting the Outeiro de Rei Council with the N-640, near Os Silgueiros (parish of Teixeiro), and the path connecting Portoganoi, Verín, and Pacios (parish of San Xoán do Campo). The second project, with €67,418.97, will condition the Camiño da Croa (section Toiriz-Casas Novas, parish of Piúgos) and paths in the locality of Taboelle (parish of Orbazai). Both projects will have an execution period of four months.
In the area of social aid, the bases for non-governmental development organizations (ONGDs) were approved with a budget of €49,000 (€40,000 for external cooperation and €9,000 for social awareness initiatives). The bases for aid to non-profit neighborhood associations were also approved, with €22,500 for activities of social interest and maintenance costs, with a maximum amount of €2,000 per association.
The Local Government Board also approved the modification of the management contract for the venture capital fund Lugo Transforma, at the request of the manager Torsa Capital. The maximum investment volume is reduced from 13.002 million to 8 million euros, and the minimum investment commitment from 6 to 4 million. Torsa Capital justifies this reduction due to economic and budgetary circumstances that affected the municipal contribution schedule, as well as the initial configuration of the fund, considered oversized.
Regarding urban transport, the appeal filed by Monbus Urbanos S.A.U. against the forced extension of the service was partially upheld. The company's obligation to continue providing the service is maintained, but the possibility of economic compensation for the costs derived from this continuity is recognized, which must be justified and audited by the Council. The new service contract will also be initiated.
In the cultural sphere, powers were delegated to expedite the agreement with the "la Caixa" Foundation to install the traveling exhibition Colores del Mundo on San Fernando street, consisting of 42 large-format images from National Geographic, scheduled between October 26 and December 13, 2026.
The temporary assignment of functions for the Head of the Citizen Attention Section was approved, as well as the rectification of a material error in the professional identification of a member of the physical test tribunal for driver firefighters. Furthermore, the electricity supply contract for the Lugo Council was awarded to Naturgy Clientes Empresas, S.A.U., with an estimated annual amount of €9,465,094.21 excluding VAT.
