The intervention, which began last Monday, will involve the temporary closure of the House of Mosaics from October 19th to 26th. This closure will allow for the necessary tasks to be carried out to resolve water leak issues and improve the preservation conditions of the archaeological remains.
This action is part of a regular maintenance plan for the city's archaeological windows. The City Council has awarded a specific contract for 12,100 euros to perform periodic conservation, cleaning, and repair tasks, both inside and outside these facilities.
In addition to addressing specific problems like leaks, the contract will enable continuous attention to the maintenance needs of these spaces. A cleaning system adapted to avoid vehicles passing over the archaeological windows will also be studied.
Through these measures, the City Council aims to ensure more regular attention and advance the conservation of this historical heritage of Lugo.
