The Galician Agency for Donation of Organs, Blood and Tissues (ADOS) will set up a mobile unit in Narón next to the Health Center this Wednesday, October 14th, to facilitate blood donation.

The vehicle will be parked next to the Health Center and will allow blood donation from 09:30 to 14:30 in the morning and from 15:30 to 21:00 in the afternoon, as part of the campaign “Donate blood, a breath of life”.
Individuals wishing to donate must be between 18 and 70 years old, in good health, and weigh over 50 kilograms. The process, which takes approximately 15 minutes, includes a prior medical check-up to assess the donor's health status, measuring pulse, blood pressure, and hemoglobin levels to rule out anemia.
ADOS recommends arriving well-hydrated for the donation, preferably with water or soft drinks, and avoiding donating on an empty stomach. Those donating in the morning should have breakfast beforehand, while those donating in the afternoon should wait two hours after eating. In any case, it is advisable to avoid heavy meals. It is necessary to present the donation card, ID card, or any other identification document, and inform the medical staff about any medication being taken.
In Galicia, more than 400 daily donations are needed to meet the demands of emergencies, surgical interventions, and patients with cancer or leukemia. Each donation yields three components (plasma, platelets, and red blood cells) that are vital for treating various diseases, helping approximately 30,000 patients annually.
