The Cedeira City Council has published on the Public Sector Contracting Platform the tender announcement for the supply of a mini-excavator and its attachments, intended for forest fire prevention activities. The purchase has a budget of €60,521 (VAT included), of which €30,000 will come from a subsidy from the Consellería de Presidencia. Interested companies have until the 20th to submit their offers.
This is one of the actions that the municipal government will finance through the incorporation of credits from last year's remaining funds, approved by the council in September. Having its own resources for forest fire prevention is crucial for a municipality like Cedeira, which has 60% of its area as forest, with significant publicly owned woodlands and particularly steep terrain in the Serra da Capelada.
The tender opened by the Cedeira City Council seeks the supply of a mini-excavator, model Komatsu PC24MR-J, a versatile machine with optimized fuel consumption and the ability to operate in limited spaces. It will include rubber tracks to move over pavements without damaging them, among other attachments that will provide high performance. The vehicle will become part of the municipal fleet and will facilitate tasks such as opening and maintaining biomass strips, clearing tracks, conserving drainage, and maintaining access to water points.
It is worth remembering that the City Council already strengthened its equipment with the purchase of a tractor with a brush cutter arm in 2021 and a truck with a crane in 2025, operations in which more than €221,000 were invested.
