The agreement, approved by the Local Government Board, will facilitate information and promote social awareness about the importance of offering new opportunities to adolescents facing complex situations. The CONVIVE.COMigo program, developed by the ARELA Association, seeks individuals and families willing to temporarily host adolescents who have been subject to a judicial cohabitation measure.
The objective is to provide them with a stable, educational, and positive environment that fosters their personal development, the acquisition of cohabitation habits, and their social integration, also contributing to the prevention of possible recidivism. The ARELA Association will be responsible for the assessment, selection, training, and professional follow-up of collaborating families.
The mayor of Silleda, Paula Fernández Pena, highlighted that "with this agreement, we want to open a door to the solidarity of the families in our municipality and help these young people find a living environment that assists them in redirecting their situation and building new future opportunities".
The Councilor for Social Welfare, Ángela Troitiño, added that "it is not just about offering a home, but about providing understanding, support, and an opportunity to move forward in a particularly important stage of life". The City Council will act as an information and dissemination point, while ARELA will handle the technical tasks.
