The Secretary General for Linguistic Policy, Valentín García, visited Canosa-Rus school in Coristanco to highlight the role of extracurricular activities in promoting the use of Galician, as part of the new General Plan for the Galician Language.

The Secretary General for Linguistic Policy, Valentín García, accompanied by students from the Canosa-Rus school in Coristanco, participated today in a workshop of board games in Galician. This initiative, supported by the Xunta, aims to promote educational centers as "spaces for socialization, beyond classrooms and class hours, where the use of the Galician language can be enhanced".
The representative of the Consellería de Cultura, Lingua e Xuventude (Department of Culture, Language, and Youth) emphasized that these proposals "aim to promote Galician as a vehicular language in extracurricular and conciliation activities." These actions are part of the new General Plan for the Normalization of the Galician Language, recently approved in the Parliament of Galicia.
As explained by Valentín García, the initiative will be developed in several educational centers throughout the Community. The goal is for schoolchildren to enjoy their leisure time with board games in Galician, designed by the Brazolinda project, which aim to foster observation, learning, communication, and reasoning among the younger generations.
The field of Education is one of the pillars of the new Language Plan, which includes over 700 measures to enhance Galician. Within the educational sphere, nearly 100 actions focus on the centers, with initiatives in theater, school radios, sports, and other educational leisure proposals.
