The equipment, costing 71,390 euros (VAT included), was delivered by Pablo Loureiro, representative of BAYGAR, S.L., the company awarded the supply contract. This acquisition is part of a municipal project to acquire machinery for environmental protection, funded by a 78,869.23 euro grant from the Xunta de Galicia's Environmental Compensation Fund for 2026, awarded to the Council due to the presence of wind turbines in its municipality.
The project also includes the purchase of seven handheld brush cutters, awarded to Maquinaria Agrícola Carpintero, S.L. for 6,310.15 euros (VAT included), which will enhance vegetation clearing work and the response capacity of municipal services.
The new container washer, model BAY-50, is an autonomous high-pressure water cleaning system integrated into a certified trailer. It can simultaneously wash two 240 and 360-liter containers, and individually wash 800 and 1,100-liter ones. It features a programmable system, a high-pressure pump (50 l/min, 150 bar), 400 and 200-liter water tanks, a four-stage dirty water collection system, and an automated electrical panel.
Mayor Luis Piña highlighted that "the incorporation of this equipment will allow us to reinforce the periodic cleaning of waste containers, a fundamental task to improve hygiene, reduce bad odors, and prevent problems arising from the accumulation of organic waste, especially during the warmer months."
