The Xunta de Galicia, through Turismo de Galicia, and the Ribadeo City Council have signed an agreement for the acquisition and rehabilitation of Casa Maseda, with the aim of converting it into the municipality's new tourist information office.

The Xunta's contribution amounts to nearly 900,000 euros for this project, which seeks to enhance local heritage for tourism purposes. The Ribadeo City Council estimates that the works could be completed during the upcoming year 2027.
This intervention will improve the service provided to the visitors and pilgrims who visit the town annually, while also recovering a building of architectural and heritage interest. The rehabilitation project will respect the building's identity, including the preservation of the facade's coat of arms.

"The objective is for Casa Maseda to become a multifunctional building that, in addition to improving access to tourist information, contributes to strengthening the municipality's cultural offerings and the dynamization of tourism experiences related to its heritage."

Xosé Merelles · Director of Turismo de Galicia
Casa Maseda, built in 1880, has two floors that will be organized to combine direct public attention with spaces for cultural activities. The ground floor will be dedicated to tourist information and the first floor to exhibitions and other cultural events.
The initiative aligns with the objectives of the Galicia Tourism Strategy 2030 and is particularly relevant in a municipality through which the Camino del Norte passes, having already welcomed over 20,000 pilgrims this year.
