The president of the Diputación, Valentín González Formoso, and the director of Cáritas Diocesana de Santiago, Pilar Farjas Abadía, signed the collaboration agreement today. The project has a total budget of €162,468.99, of which the Diputación will finance 80%. The aim is to improve the conditions of the facilities where training courses and employment guidance services for individuals at risk of social exclusion are provided.
The works will focus on replacing the current windows, which show deterioration and have issues with closing and water leaks, with new aluminum joinery featuring thermal breaks. Opening systems will also be improved, water drainage elements will be renewed, and the security grilles on the ground floor will be conditioned. These improvements aim to optimize thermal and acoustic insulation, reduce heating needs, and provide greater comfort for students, staff, and volunteers.
The Violetas Center, which serves individuals from A Coruña and other municipalities in the province such as Oleiros, Cambre, Culleredo, Arteixo, Sada, and A Laracha, combines vocational training with employment guidance and personalized support. Since its establishment in 1993, it has assisted nearly 20,000 people and conducted over 500 training actions. Between 2019 and 2024, 1,272 individuals participated in its courses.
The center's training offerings are adapted to the region's business needs and cover areas such as socio-health care, hospitality, cleaning, logistics, commerce, and digital skills. In addition to training, it has a placement agency, promotes internships in companies, and offers workshops for resume preparation and interview skills. The Diputación already collaborates with Cáritas on other initiatives through grants to social entities.
