The Galician Culture Council (CCG) and the Association of Local Entities for the Galician Language (Alingua) signed a collaboration protocol on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, aimed at promoting and normalizing the use of the Galician language through joint initiatives.
The agreement, signed by Alingua's president, Ramón Varela, and CCG's president, Dolores Vilavedra, includes organizing cultural activities, developing educational and outreach materials, and conducting research on the current state of the Galician language.
One of the first planned actions is a study focusing on the supply and demand of products and services in Galician aimed at children. This research, to be carried out by the Observatory of Galician Culture, will seek to identify families' needs and relate them to available market resources.
This project continues previous CCG studies such as 'Offer, demand, and cultural practices among minors under 16' (2022) and 'Offer and demand of cultural products and services in Galician for children and youth' (2025).
The first phase of this study will take place on November 7 in Santiago de Compostela, with an event organized by Alingua where families involved in the Apego program will share their experiences regarding daily consumption and leisure in Galician.
The conclusions from this event, along with a subsequent online survey, will help identify the main gaps in the current offering and connect family demands with the productive and business sector.
The protocol also foresees the exchange of projects and materials between both entities, the possibility of incorporating other institutions, and the creation of a monitoring committee. The agreement will have an initial duration of one year, extendable annually for up to three additional years.
Alingua, an association established in 2019, and the CCG aim with this collaboration to strengthen institutional coordination and expand tools designed to increase the presence and social use of the Galician language.
