The project will allow for the construction of a pedestrian path and the urbanization of this section to improve safety, accessibility, and the urban quality of the surroundings, aligning with the objectives of the municipal Accessibility Plan and the commitment to sustainable mobility.
The intervention aims to transform the public space by creating safe and accessible routes, prioritizing pedestrians and improving circulation conditions. The section currently has deficiencies such as the absence of sidewalks and ditches, limited visibility, and high vehicle speeds, which hinder safe and accessible pedestrian travel, especially for families with children using the two public and school transport stops in the area.
The project includes the construction of a pedestrian path to ensure route continuity, new pedestrian crossings, and the renovation of vertical and horizontal signage. A new LED public lighting system will also be installed, the sanitation network will be renewed, and rainwater drainage infrastructure will be adapted.
Furthermore, overhead electrical and telecommunication lines will be buried, and new urban furniture will be incorporated to enhance both the functionality and aesthetic integration of the space. The City Council thus seeks to advance in the humanization of roads and universal accessibility.
