The Arteixo City Council has initiated ruin declaration proceedings for seven properties located in the As Eiras neighborhood in Meicende, specifically on Rúa Ecuador and Travesía de Meirás, due to their severely deteriorated condition and the resulting unsanitary issues.

The buildings are in a very poor state of conservation and are causing unsanitary conditions that affect nearby residents. After analysis by municipal technicians confirmed their poor condition, the City Council decided to initiate the seven proceedings in accordance with current regulations, as these are private properties and the administrative actions required to resolve the unsanitary problems involve lengthy procedures.
The ultimate goal is to proceed with the demolition of the properties, carry out their expropriation, and develop a special interior reform plan for the block they occupy. This action will allow for the urban improvement of this area of As Eiras and address the problems arising from the buildings' condition.
This will be the second municipal intervention in this neighborhood. In 2018, the Arteixo City Council already acted by demolishing ruined properties to open a new street, involving an investment of 146,000 euros. At that time, preliminary topographic surveys and setting-out work were carried out.
Now, the City Council is initiating a new action in a nearby block, with the planned demolition of the seven properties and subsequent interior reform, aiming to continue the urban improvement of As Eiras.
