The project, the result of three years of work, combines poetry, musical compositions, and cultural memory through a selection of texts by eight authors related to Arteixo: Antón Castro, Dora Vázquez, Henrique Rabuñal, Miguel Sande, Óscar García Ramos, Pablo Mariño, Paco Souto, and Xosé Iglesias. The publication aims to vindicate Arteixo's cultural and literary richness and connect with the voices of its writers and the spaces that form part of its personal and collective memory.
Sindo Otero defines the initiative as a series of "approaches to writers," a project where music was the starting point and which evolved into a multidisciplinary endeavor. The work includes eight QR codes providing access to audiovisual recordings of conversations with the writers in their favorite places. For deceased authors, their memory is kept alive through close family and friends.
The disc also features references to significant figures in Arteixo's history, including a tribute to coach Arsenio Iglesias through a text by Antón Castro, and the remembrance of businessman and surfer Diego Bello, who was murdered in the Philippines.
In the musical section, highlights include Sindo Otero's guitar, the participation of producer Nacho Varela, and the voices of Amanda Villamar, Betty Queiro, and Franki Lafuente. The album incorporates arrangements with piano, percussion, bass, and violins.
The mayor of Arteixo, Carlos Calvelo, thanked Sindo Otero for his effort, while the councilor for Culture, María Dubra, emphasized the collective nature of the publication and the importance of supporting proposals that promote local artistic creation.
The official presentation of «Arteixo, a sea of verses and music» will take place on November 14 at the Auditorium of the Civic Center of Arteixo. Subsequently, Sindo Otero plans to tour the project through the different parishes of the municipality.
