The Council of Arteixo and the Port Authority will promote a sanitation project that will reinforce the network of the parish of Suevos and connect the Langosteira Outer Port with the wastewater treatment plant (EDAR) of Bens. The action, with a cost close to 2.9 million euros, will be financed 90% by the Port Authority and 10% by the Council of Arteixo.
The project includes the construction of pumping systems and a three-section underground collector. The first, about 600 meters long, will run through the interior of Langosteira. The second, approximately 400 meters, will divert towards the Port of Suevos. The third, about 2.3 kilometers, will connect the new system with the facilities of the EDAR of Bens through the Suevos sandpit, on the border with the municipality of A Coruña.
The intervention also includes a wastewater pumping station in the Port of Suevos, a general collector to reinforce the parish's network, and an impulsion and gravity pipeline to connect this pumping station with the Outer Port.
This work continues the action by Augas de Galicia, which completed in June the construction of a new collector between the Suevos sandpit and the EDAR of Bens. The infrastructure was designed to increase the capacity of the sanitation system and will allow the incorporation of wastewater from the Langosteira Port.
Punctual overflows in the Suevos sandpit, caused by the operation of the Morás industrial estate and sudden increases in flow during intense rainfall, prompted the Council of Arteixo to request collaboration from the administrations involved. The joint solution allowed Augas de Galicia to execute the new collector, with a total investment of 2.7 million euros.
The first action received contributions of 1,065,000 euros from the Consellería de Industria, 734,000 euros from Xestur, 518,000 euros from the Port Authority, and 393,000 euros from the Council of Arteixo.
The new connection with the Outer Port will complete these improvements, expanding the system's capacity to meet the sanitation needs of Suevos and Langosteira.
