The November program at the Sala José Sellier begins with the premiere of the cycle dedicated to screenwriter Rafael Azcona, marking the centenary of his birth. Until January, a representative sample of his career will be shown alongside works by directors such as Marco Ferreri (with El pisito), Carlos Saura (with El jardín de las delicias), Juan Estelrich (with El anacoreta), and Fernando Trueba (with El año de las luces).
Also in November, a cycle on the Japanese filmmaker Keisuke Kinoshita begins, titled A Look from Emotion, a collaboration with the Japan Foundation. Kinoshita, a prominent figure of the second golden age of Japanese cinema, will be featured with eight significant works until December 22, including his well-known The Ballad of Narayama (1958).
On November 19 and 20, American filmmaker James Benning will present his latest films, Eight Bridges and Little Boy, at the Filmoteca de Galicia. This will be Benning's third visit, known for his experimental and landscape-focused cinema, thanks to collaborations with the Gijón International Film Festival and the Filmoteca Española. Each screening will be followed by a Q&A session.
The Filmoteca also hosts regular collaborations with the Association Friends of the Opera of A Coruña (featuring screenings like The Kaiser of Atlantis, Dogville, and The White Ribbon) and the Cormorán Film Fest. Additionally, the schedule includes new installments of Fóra de Serie, Filmoteca Jr. (with Buster Keaton's classic The General), and Off Galicia.
At the end of the month, the documentary Feelings Are Facts: The Life of Yvonne Rainer will serve as the starting point for a cycle dedicated to filmmaker and choreographer Yvonne Rainer in December. The November program will conclude with sessions from the program The Limits of My Body Are the Horizon, curated by artist Isabel María.
