The Iberik Gran Balneario de Guitiriz, a historic thermal complex located in rural Lugo, has launched its new Casa Club, a 1,600 square meter space designed to host social, cultural, and business events for up to 150 people. The inauguration was attended by the director of Turismo de Galicia, Xosé Merelles, and the territorial delegate of the Xunta in Lugo, Alfonso Villares.
This new facility, already supported by Turismo de Galicia through grants for thermal establishments, aims to "diversify Galicia's tourism offerings, attract new visitor profiles, and advance in destacionalization," according to Xosé Merelles. The goal is for the spa to become a national and international benchmark in health and wellness tourism, also promoting MICE tourism (meetings, incentives, conferences, and events) in the interior of Galicia.
Merelles also highlighted the potential of thermalism in Galicia, noting that the region is the "leading thermal power in Spain" with over 20 spas and the second European destination for medicinal mineral water reserves. He emphasized that these resources constitute "a differential heritage, natural, and cultural asset" for promoting a quality and sustainable tourism model throughout the year.
The Casa Club is located in the establishment's former stables and integrates indoor and outdoor spaces within a natural environment, complementing the complex's hotel, thermal, and sports offerings. The Iberik Gran Balneario de Guitiriz is considered one of Galicia's most emblematic thermal establishments and a significant contributor to the region's tourism economy.
According to data from the 2025 Resident Tourism Survey, the thermal sector in Galicia generated approximately 232,000 trips and 620,000 overnight stays, with a total expenditure of 74.6 million euros.
