The group undertook a 13-kilometer linear hike along the Ruta do Bosque da Fervenza, covering a route between Lugo and O Corgo. The activity began at the old Lugo water treatment plant and concluded in the Bosque da Fervenza, on an autumn morning marked by good weather.
Participants followed a path parallel to the Miño River, from the mouth of the Rato River to the Fervenza forest. The route offered views of the river landscape and showcased the natural richness of the area, a spectacular grove with centuries-old trees and oaks over 300 years old, considered one of the best-preserved flood forests on the Peninsula.
During the hike, the group stopped at the rural tourism house Casa Grande da Fervenza, where they visited an old 17th-century mill and learned about its history.
The next outing of the ‘Guitiriz en Ruta’ program is scheduled for Sunday, December 20th, with the Ruta da Auga from Parga to San Alberte, along the Northern Way of St. James. The walk will start at 10:00 AM from the CIT facilities in Parga.
