The Xunta de Galicia is advancing in the preparation of this important event, which will bring together European partners to address the challenges of sustainable tourism. The participation of Turismo de Galicia in the NECSTouR Summit 2026 in Kotka, Finland, served to coordinate efforts and prepare for the meeting in Galicia.
This initiative is part of the Xunta's strategy to promote a sustainable and competitive tourism model, contributing to the conservation of heritage, the protection of the territory's identity, and the distribution of tourism benefits throughout the community.
The celebration of the assembly in Santiago de Compostela will be an opportunity to strengthen Galicia's presence in European tourism cooperation spaces and to share experiences in sustainability and visitor flow management.
The Xunta is also developing tools to better understand the Galician tourism reality, such as the installation of sensors on the Jacobean routes to gather information on pilgrim transit and the launch of the Observatory of Tourism Sustainability of Galicia.
NECSTouR is a European network of regions and organizations that promotes cooperation for more sustainable and competitive destinations, facilitating the exchange of knowledge and experiences.
