The Minister of Culture, Lingua e Xuventude, José López Campos, attended the final of the Cooking category of the Xuventude Crea contest, held at the market of the Praza de Abastos in Santiago de Compostela. López Campos emphasized the initiative's contribution to "discovering new talents and confirming Galicia's potential in the most diverse artistic, creative, and culinary disciplines".
Accompanied by the Director General of Youth, Lara Meneses, the Xunta representative praised the "high level" of the 23 participants in this modality of the seventeenth edition. He highlighted the winning culinary proposals, which include the recipes Ravioli de boi, castaña e grelo, Os da casa, and Milfollas de castaña, café e augardente, recognizing the "great tradition and interest in recipes, products, and gastronomy that exist in Galicia".
López Campos considered that Xuventude Crea confirms, once again, that Galicia has "an excellent pool of talent for the kitchens of Galician restoration" and that a "generational renewal is guaranteed, on par with the great chefs who currently make it possible to savor Galicia Calidade worldwide".
The three awarded recipes received a "well-deserved recognition for their excellent quality". Náyelin Michelle Ferrreras and Ana Yivelis Pérez, from Arzúa, obtained the first prize; Anxo Giráldez and Lucas Gil, from Ponteareas, the second; and Valeria Torrado, from Boiro, the third.
Cooking is one of the 15 specialties of Xuventude Crea, which this year has nearly five hundred registered participants. The three winning proposals will receive their respective awards at a final gala along with the rest of the honorees from the remaining 14 categories.
