The work, part of the Consorcio de Santiago's Popular Science Library, aims to uncover a portion of Santiago's architectural heritage that often goes unnoticed. The publication details 31 domes, chronologically ordered, allowing readers to learn about these elements and approach the aesthetic choices of the artists and promoters who shaped the city's architecture.
The book features domes from emblematic buildings such as the Cathedral, the convent of San Domingos de Bonaval, the monastery of San Martiño Pinario, the church of the convent of Santa Clara, the monastery of San Paio de Antealtares, the church of Orfas, the Pazo de Raxoi (the only one in a civil building), and the one in the chapel of Cristo de Santa María de Conxo, where the presentation took place.
The publication offers the opportunity to observe architectural details that are difficult to appreciate in daily tours of Compostela, inviting a different perspective of the city by focusing on the structures that crown its buildings and define its architectural identity.
“"It can become a magnificent guide for anyone who wants to discover another dimension of the city, as it not only leads to the most famous monuments but also invites exploration of what lies within and a better understanding of the history each one holds."
