The Galicia Consultative Council will have a budget of just over 2.6 million euros in 2027. These funds will be used to ensure regulatory quality and transparency, as well as to cover the responsibilities of the Galicia Transparency Commission, which has been attached to the advisory body since May 2026.
The president of the Consultative Council, Andrés Lago Louro, accompanied by the secretary-general, Patricia Roiloa Rodríguez, presented the 2027 accounts to the Parliament of Galicia during the Economy, Finance, and Budgets committee. Lago took the opportunity to express his condolences and solidarity with the victims of the recent train accident near Urda (Toledo).
The draft budget, which has already passed an internal review, amounts to €2,623,149, representing 0.02% of the total regional budget and a 9% increase from 2026. Chapter I (personnel) accounts for 85% with €2,227,222, including a 5% salary update. The remaining €395,927 is distributed among current expenses (11.47%) and capital investments (3.62%).
Since May 2026, the Transparency Commission has been resolving appeals regarding access to public information. The reorganization of job positions for these new functions involves a budget of €80,000. In the initial months, nearly 700 cases were processed, mainly directed at local councils and Xunta departments, with an estimated 900 to 1,000 by year-end. 371 appeals were resolved, granting access to information in almost 7 out of 10 cases.
In 2025, 412 advisory opinions were issued, and the workload in 2026 is expected to be similar or higher. The Consultative Council, which celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2026, will have issued over 19,000 advisory opinions and legal reports throughout its history. It will strengthen training in advisory matters, transparency, and AI through agreements with the USC, EGAP, and FEGAMP.
