The theatrical piece A Gaivota, ensaio aberto, a co-production of the Centro Dramático Galego, arrives in Buenos Aires (Argentina) after its stop in Montevideo (Uruguay), where it will offer four performances at the CTBA-Teatro San Martín until Sunday. The bilingual show in Galician and Spanish aims to connect with the Galician emigrant community and incorporates local performers and teams.
The tour includes professional meetings, training activities, and gatherings with the diaspora, with the collaboration of Xunta delegations and the support of the Secretaría Xeral da Emigración and Spanish embassies. These actions aim to foster future co-productions and expand the presence of Galician performing arts in international circuits.
The first stage of the tour took place from October 12 to 15 at the Atahualpa hall of Teatro El Galpón in Montevideo, as part of the International Festival of Performing Arts of Uruguay (FIDAE). There, Déborah Vukušić shared the stage with Camila Durán and Claudia Trecu, who replaced Galician actresses Uxía Suevos and Mercedes Castro.
The Uruguayan audience's response included a significant presence from the Galician community. In Argentina, Déborah Vukušić will share the stage with local actresses Eugenia Alonso and Carmela Rivero. The cast renewal is part of the show's concept, where local performers take on the roles of Nina and Arkádina, integrating their own experiences and perspectives.
A Gaivota, ensaio aberto, directed and dramatized by Santiago Cortegoso and Neto Portela based on Anton Chekhov's classic, focuses on a rehearsal where the lead actresses must be replaced. The production mixes fragments of the play with the personal stories of the performers to reflect on creation, affections, and the passage of time.
