The O Rosal City Council is improving its management of vegetable bio-waste with the addition of a new 100% electric truck, capable of separately collecting over 52 tons of plant waste annually.
The new vehicle, equipped with a crane and grabber, will facilitate the loading and handling of materials, reducing the physical strain on staff and streamlining the separate collection of plant waste for valorization. The truck is fully electric, with no direct CO₂ emissions during operation, and features a configuration adapted to rural roads and the transport of bulky plant waste.
For the acquisition of this new vehicle, the City Council secured over 100,000 euros in European funds through grants from the Xunta's Consellería de Medio Ambiente e Cambio Climático, aimed at increasing eco-efficiency in waste management, co-financed by 60% from the European Union under the Galicia FEDER 2021-2027 program.
Additionally, the City Council secured nearly 18,000 euros for improving the facilities and equipment of the fixed municipal clean point, another 15,000 euros for the digitalization of the waste service and cost analysis, and almost 2,500 euros for promoting domestic composting.
