The City Council of Lugo commemorated World Menopause Day with an informative session at the Vello Cárcere, organized by the Department of Women and Conciliation, aiming to openly discuss this life stage.

The session, led by Aurora Goás, brought together four specialists in family medicine, gynecology, psychiatry, and nutrition to address menopause, resolve doubts, and debunk myths and misconceptions.
The mayor of Lugo, Elena Candia, participated in the institutional opening. Speakers included Ainhoa Rois García (family medicine), Ana López Domínguez (gynecology), Paula Cores (psychiatry at HULA), and Sara Barreiro (dietetics and nutrition).
The professionals emphasized the importance of normalizing menopause, seeking primary care, and consulting other healthcare professionals when necessary. Healthy eating, physical activity, and accepting physical changes were also highlighted.
Councilwoman Aurora Goás closed the event, advocating for a positive view of menopause and the need to live it with information and well-being, without associating it with images of fragility.
Through this initiative, Lugo City Council aims to raise awareness about menopause, provide accurate information, and offer a space for women to address their concerns.
