The Mayor of A Cañiza, Luis Piña, and the president of the Provincial Council of Pontevedra, Luis López Diéguez, signed the agreement to improve accessibility on Rosalía de Castro street and in the Os Bueixos area with a total investment of 1,041,779.48 euros.

The agreement, signed on October 29 in Pontevedra, allocates funds from the Provincial Council to execute the project «Improvement of accessibility in Rosalía de Castro and Bueixos». The Provincial Council will finance the entire work through two aid lines: 682,000 euros from the Extraordinary Provincial Plan – Plan Extra and 359,779.48 euros from the Plan + Provincia 2026-2027, distributed over two years.
The Mayor described the agreement as «a necessary step to continue transforming the main roads of the urban center, turning them into accessible spaces designed for people». The total investment for the project amounts to 1,041,779.48 euros, of which 1,011,015.23 euros correspond to the execution of the works and 30,764.25 euros to technical fees.
The project is divided into three phases. The first will focus on Rosalía de Castro street (1,339.45 m2) to improve pavements and pedestrian circulation conditions, featuring a shared platform design with granite slab sidewalks and deactivated concrete roadway.
The second phase will address the connecting paths between Rosalía de Castro street and Os Bueixos (914.53m2), enhancing the continuity of pedestrian routes. The third phase will renovate the interior paths of Os Bueixos (1,095m2) with granite cobblestones and granite slab bands, respecting the traditional character of the area and improving drainage and urban furniture.
The set of actions will reinforce the pedestrian connection between the center of A Cañiza and Os Bueixos, improving accessibility along the route.
