The A Coruña Council approved financial procedures for city investments, including the Fire Station expansion and 32 Participatory Budget projects.

The Local Government Board of A Coruña Council approved on Monday the necessary financial procedures to launch various investments in the city. Mayor Inés Rey detailed that the approved modifications will allow for actions at the Fire Station and the initiation of 32 projects selected through this year's Participatory Budgets.
€427,963 are allocated for the expansion works of the Fire Station's administrative building, sourced from special contributions from insurance companies. These funds are in addition to the one million euros already earmarked for material resources for the station.
Furthermore, the financing mechanism for the Participatory Budgets has been activated, which will receive a municipal investment of €2,450,730 across 32 projects. The funds, already budgeted, will now be assigned to each responsible area to begin the tender process.
Among the selected projects are the creation of accessible public restrooms and a refrigerated waste room at the Mercado de San Agustín (€70,000 and €60,000 respectively), tree planting along the Pelamios promenade (€60,000), the humanization of Plaza de San Xosé (€130,000), and the redevelopment of Plaza de la calle Puerto Rico (€224,800), among others.
City-wide initiatives include the installation and replacement of public fountains (€110,000), the creation of urban biodiversity refuges (€100,000), and the expansion of the network of recreational fountains (€220,000).
