The A Coruña Council has definitively formalized the parceling project for the property known as Acuartelamiento da Grela or Cuartel de Automóbiles and the agreement for the settlement of the convention signed with the Ministry of Defence. This will allow the use of this space, which has been unused for many years, to carry out an intervention that will bring new public facilities to a key access and exit area of the city.
The mayor, Inés Rey, stated that "This is a major step towards establishing facilities that will be key to facilitating and improving urban transport logistics with a view to the new contract to be tendered soon." The Council considers this enclave to be of great utility and plans to urbanize it.
The parceling project stipulates that the Council will have slightly more than half of this plot, nearly 22,000 square meters of the total area, with a buildable area of approximately 38,000 square meters. The use of this surface will allow for not only space for garages but also for housing other necessary public services.
The proposal also establishes the termination of the convention by mutual agreement of the parties and determines the rules for its settlement, in order to specify the obligations and commitments assumed, executed, pending, or extinguished by each of the involved agents. The space gained will become municipal property and, due to its dimensions, will allow for housing other services beyond its use as garages for public transport in the future.
