The Minister of Education, Science, Universities and Vocational Training, Román Rodríguez, accompanied by the technical general secretary, Manuel Vila, and the delegate of the Xunta in A Coruña, Belén do Campo, today presented directors of eleven schools and institutes from three regions of the province of A Coruña with improvement projects for their centers, included in the 2027 Budgets. These actions will mobilize more than 15 million euros, and part of them are planned to be tendered this year through advance expenditure.
The meeting was attended by the heads of the Wenceslao Fernández Flórez (Cambre), Vicente Otero Valcárcel (Carral), Víctor López Seoane (A Coruña), and Prácticas (A Coruña) Multilingual Schools, the Atios School (Valdoviño), San Vicenzo (Vimianzo), and Labarta Pose (Zas); as well as the Agra do Orzán and Eusebio da Guarda Multilingual Institutes (both in the city of A Coruña), and those in Fene and Concepción Arenal in Ferrol.
The main objective of the works is to improve the comfort and energy efficiency of the facilities. Eight of them will be comprehensive rehabilitations, two extensions will be carried out, and an outdoor court will be covered to facilitate sports practice. These improvements are part of the New Pedagogical Architecture Plan, which has €72.6 million allocated in the 2027 Budgets of the Ministry of Education.
In the city of A Coruña, projects concentrate nearly €7.5 million. These include the expansion of the Agra do Orzán Institute (€1.85 million) and the comprehensive rehabilitation of the Eusebio da Guarda Multilingual Institute (€2.55 million). Comprehensive rehabilitations are also planned for the Víctor López Seoane School (€867,000) and the Prácticas Multilingual School (€2.2 million).
In the A Coruña region, more than €2.7 million will be invested in improvements for the Wenceslao Fernández Flórez Multilingual School (Cambre, €1.3 million) and the Vicente Otero Valcárcel Multilingual School (Carral, €1.4 million).
