The President of the Xunta, Alfonso Rueda, announced today that the Consello has approved this new Resilience Improvement Strategy. The Resgal network, used by professionals from 112, the regional police, 061, and the fire fighting service, among others, aims to ensure its continuity and recovery in extreme situations.
The planned actions include upgrading core systems, reinforcing cybersecurity and communication encryption, improving energy support, and deploying transportable stations. An evolution towards a hybrid model integrating mobile telephony and advancing 5G broadband interoperability is foreseen.
Of the total budget, 5 million euros will be used to update the Tetra network components, while over 1.2 million will be allocated to transportable stations for areas affected by disasters. More than 1.7 million will strengthen support infrastructure against severe power interruptions, and over 1.1 million will develop a Tetra and 5G integration system.
The Resgal network, managed by the Galician Agency for Technological Modernization (AMTEGA) through Retegal, provides technological independence and sovereignty in emergency management, focusing on rural areas and high-risk fire zones. In 2025, it handled nearly one million internal calls, a 67% increase from 2019.
Currently, over 6,300 people use Tetra terminals, with more than 5,000 belonging to the Xunta and over 1,200 from other local entities. The network offers coverage in 90% of Galicia's territory and 97% of populated areas, operating through 105 fixed base stations and one transportable station.
The network is used by Xunta bodies such as Axega-112, regional police, 061, and the Forest Fire Prevention and Defense Service. It is also available to local administrations, with 125 entities outside the regional scope connected, including recently the municipalities of A Coruña and Ourense, and soon Santiago de Compostela and Ferrol.
